The investigation of crashes which involve motorcycles requires specialized training, experience and skill on the part of the reconstruction expert. Due to the unique design of motorcycles many of the traditional methods of reconstruction do not apply when determining such things as the pre-crash speed of the bike. It is essential that the motorcycle be inspected by a qualified expert, and that the vehicle be handled with care to not change its condition in any way. In many respects, the post collision inspection of a motorcycle is more complex than that of an automobile.
David Rochford has been trained by the Northwestern University, Center for Public Safety, the Engineering Extension of Texas A and M University and by Mechanical Engineering Forensic Services, LLC, to expertly inspect motorcycles and complete an accurate reconstruction of motorcycle crashes.
